(or maybe not!)

the workshop has already had a big effect on me, and i can tell this is something i’m going to really get into… i’m glad ronnie encouraged me to go!

I have a vague memory of tossing it all a few years back when I was trying to change my packrat ways. Over the past couple weeks I’ve been giving my husband guitar lessons and getting back into playing. I could just kick myself! Maybe the Page of Wands will prevail and that binder will turn up.

Anyway, thank you for sharing this reflection. I love the idea of the Page of Wands being environmentally friendly!

1) i picked this card yesterday in the self-reading we did, as the “where i want to go” card. i compared it to the queen of (i think it was) pentacles, who is in a position of enjoying her wealth and has stability but maybe is a little bit too comfortable perhaps even a little bored. i interpreted the page of wands as being someone who delivers magic, a messenger of magic in a way, traveling with these symbolic wands.

2) i could relate to the above interpretation as well because i’m a packrat myself. last night after the tarot workshop, i spent the evening at home going through all the random stuff i’ve collected in my closet! it’s funny that learning about tarot inspired me to confront this collection that wouldn’t necessarily make sense to others but seems completely practical to me. sometimes, i want to get rid of that side of myself, would like to be more of the type to throw things away when the use is not immediately obvious. then there are days when i’m glad i saved that broken piece of this or that, those books i found on the street even if they’re a little bit worn (especially the ones on tarot!), or that old letter that has new meaning. i feel better thinking that the page of wands has a similar intention, thinking that these things will maybe have some good use later on, salvaging what others may discard. (very environmentally-friendly :)

all in all, i am excited to have a new idea for how to interpret this card, as the page of wands’ character has really been brought to life!

Being a “crafty” packrat myself, I’m always picking up leaves and twigs, shells, and pretty useless bits of paper and twine and whatever. I always feel a little guilty when I look at them later, wondering what I’m going to do with them. But seeing the possibilities for growth in the stick the page holds makes me realize how numinous the process can be. Not the collection of every twig—but if you gather up many small, insignificant pieces, a larger project or picture might emerge, like a mosaic. I feel like I’ve striven for that “discipline of the king” for a long time. Maybe being the page is a great place to plateau at for a while, not going anywhere.
