Angela,

You offer yet another interesting perspective on card 33. Yes, a mirror certainly does reflect the passage of time. And though the young woman seems happy, as you point out, I can also imagine her some day looking into that same mirror, aware of the reality of aging and how quickly it comes.

I like your interpretation of card 3—ignorance is bliss. How perfect! It is also neat to think that his hat has slid down his face—perhaps from being so exuberant.

Thanks for writing in!

If she didn't look so happy, I would choose 33, the woman looking in the mirror. I've been obsessed with how quickly time is passing, for the past few months, aging, time wasted (in ways) and lost, aging pets and family members... I know that everyone goes through it, and I hate feeling so vain.

Card 3 draws me in the most, otherwise.. I love to feel as light as the person in this card (although it looks as though their hat is over their face - that brought to mind, "ignorance is bliss").

Debbie, and Submerina, I love these responses!

A woman admiring and accepting herself while eating—how beautiful and empowering! That really touches me.

And that unexpected surprise on her face – like she's seeing herself, truly, for the first time—now doesn't that stir the imagination?! Imagine the story, novel, or movie that would lead up to that moment.

So neat to hear your different takes on the symbol/atomic sign behind her head.

I kid you not when I say that Spike was cooing at himself in the mirror as I started to type this, and now he's shaking the mirror wildly—it has a bell on the end, and he's ringing it loud. I think he's letting me know that he appreciates your thoughts. You have shown him to be a much deeper being than I first suggested. :)

Everyone needs a budgie, regardless :) I love that you see that in the card - it's so true to the mirror reaction!

I see an unexpected surprise on her face - like she's seeing herself, truly, for the first time. The "atomic" sign behind her head makes me think of a reaction, a changing of state (of being?) Being a "Jewish" deck, I have to wonder about the symbolism of all the 6-pointed items - the fusion and the daisies (although I see snowflakes), especially as this is card 33 - the highest master number.

I really love these "choose your cards" posts, especially when they're decks I'm completely unfamiliar with.

Hi Susan. I saw something totally different in Card # 33!!! I saw a woman who was admiring and accepting herself while eating in front of the mirror!

The symbol behind her head, for me, represented an aligning with all of the Universe...a feeling of balance and inclusion and normality. I see her gazing lovingly at herself and finding acceptance.

I love your interpretation, too Susan. Isn't it amazing how we can have such unique interpretations? I totally get what you see in the card, too!

Submerina and Debbie,

Your responses are so wonderfully imaginative and make me want to spend more time with this deck! Thank you!

Though it's not my favorite card, I keep focusing on #33, with the young woman gazing into what I think is a mirror. She reminds me of my cockatiel, Spike, who loves to cluck and coo at himself in front of the mirror. I sing, "Maria" from West Side Story to him--"See that pretty bird in that mirror there? What mirror where? Who could that attractive bird be?" Spike loves human companionship, but his world is a little too small, so we recently got him a budgie.

I'm not sure how this relates to the card. Perhaps that young woman needs to get out more, or is too self-focused. Or maybe she ought to get a budgie. She's also so distracted that she seems to have set her teacup and saucer—or bowl of soup (eek!)—on her ribbon, which is going to make one heck of a mess when she stands up.

I choose # 35, in the middle, on the bottom. To me, it looks like someone is holding on with one hand on a castle but they are also reaching out and gazing toward something precious that is flying/blowing away as well (the two dolphin-like fish in the cage).

I think the person is faced with a choice - hold on to the known, the stable, the secure (in this case, the stone castle), or to leave his home, his comfort zone, and follow after something that is moving past him - something with creative energy and new life.

This is fun, Susan!!!

Number 1 (#28), for the gorgeous carmine background and full-on weirdness of the image :) I think it resonates because it is a perfect depiction of the place I find myself in:

I see the star in the ground as being magical; and a deep, deep channel down to the source of that magic... power. And the man with the funny little hat reminds me of a Martian :) or a pixie or gnome of some sort. A sprite! He's riding in a basket - more proof of his fairy nature - but trapped by a cobweb-like veil. Trying to take off into the carmine sky, powered by the magic and halted by that dumb web. It's like Maya, the veil of Illusion. The barrier, the block: it's an insubstantial lie, no match for the magic underneath the basket.

It's a totally stupid situation to be in! It makes me mad! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to be alone with my issues ;)
