Awww ::blush:: I really get a lot out of these postings you do, so I'm glad if it can be a 2-way process. For some reason, I experience the cards in a completely different way when they're presented by someone else, ridiculous as that is. Each time you do this, I find myself learning something new and invaluable! That it has inspired you is honestly a very great honour to me. Thank you.

You should look up Vivienne Westwood if you aren't familiar with her personal life - she is exactly that person! There is a photo I was thinking of when I described her: she's sitting down, dressed in one of her fabulously off-the-wall creations and her lover?husband? is standing naked behind her. Please note, the man is an Adonis and a couple of decades younger than her. You might want to include the crazy redheaded dame on your altar ;)

May the muses and genii be kind to you!

Submerina,

I'm getting back into fiction writing, and after reading your knock out description of the Eight of Wands, I put that card on my tarot altar. As a writer, I want to channel her energy—that cigar-smoking, strong-enough-to-handle-it revolutionary who boldly goes wherever life takes her.

I love this: "She doesn't just dance to her own drummer; she reinvented the drum so that now it's a woodwind and her nubile young "companion" plays it for her while she sits in her studio and thinks of new wonders!" Yowza! Now that lady has a story to tell!

Thanks so much!

I struggled with this one. Although I find the images from the Golden to be very beautiful, the deck itself is somewhat flat for me. I was drawn to the 8 of Wands though. She looks like she's just figured something out; one of those "Now, why didn't I think of that before!" moments. It's a _big_ breakthrough and things are going to happen FAST from here on in! The ideas and their outcomes are coming at her like bolts out of the blue. She is strong enough to handle it though; she is prepared and welcoming (the red scarf, bare shoulders).

She strikes me as a very independent woman who is ready to boldly go wherever life takes her. In her time, she might have been a biologist or doctor of some kind; something revolutionary and awfully unexpected (and scandalous!) in the field of natural sciences. She would have lived into her 90's and smoked cigars ;) Ooh! Vivienne Westwood is the modern equivalent of this card. She doesn't just dance to her own drummer; she reinvented the drum so that now it's a woodwind and her nubile young "companion" plays it for her while she sits in her studio and thinks of new wonders! :D

Dammit. Maybe I _do_ like these cards after all!
